Every year at the end of the summer term we take the children on a little field trip funded by Playgroup and this year we visited Spring Barn Farm in Lewes. Don’t worry, parents and siblings aren’t left out as they get to come along too!
This year we had slightly changeable weather but we were lucky to have sunshine when we arrived so we all played outside on the jumping pillow, in the sandpit, on the tractors and on the play areas before going into the animal barn for our very own ‘meet the animals’ session.
The children loved stroking the rabbits, Guinea pigs and miniature ponies. After that we had our own private tractor ride around the farm … always a winner!
Some people then moved inside for lunch, while others ate their picnics outside. After lunch we went into the play barn to go on the big slides and enjoy the soft play and indoor ride-on tractors. The parents and some of the Playgroup staff seemed to love the big slides as much as the children did!
Some people made it back to their cars before the heavens opened but for those of us left in the barn the rain was very loud indeed (and very exciting for the children) and we had to make a mad dash for it at home time so as not to get soaked.
Overall a lovely day was had by all and we’re already looking forward to next year’s visit!
